CONSULTANT: Rebecca Mora

Rebecca Mora has been a Board Certified Spanish teacher at Hopewell Valley Central High School in Pennington, NJ since 2007. She completed her undergraduate work at both Indiana University and La Universidad de Sevilla, as well as a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership at The College of New Jersey. In addition, she currently works in her fourth year on the AP Spanish Language and Culture Test Development Committee, collaborating to make final subject-matter decisions in the exam creation process. During the exam reading, she has served as an Early Table Leader.

Her experience as a consultant includes implementing both online and in-person APSI workshops across the country. Regardless of the platform or course format, Rebecca ensures that workshop participants are equipped with meaningful activities that establish a professional community among peers, develop the knowledge and skills necessary to align professional practice, planning, and practice with appropriate assessment techniques and access to learning.

In the classroom, Rebecca teaches AP Spanish, Spanish 4 Honors, and Spanish 1. Her AP Spanish Language and Culture course fosters proficiency-based language skills and cultural connections as students explore a variety of thematic units, including a service learning outreach through AP and WE Service. Outside of the classroom, she has served on the district’s Culturally Responsive Teaching Committee, and has most recently provided district-level professional development workshops on integrating inclusive practices in the classroom. She has also been an instructor for Upward Bound, a nonprofit organization that provides educational opportunities and scholarships for students of the Trenton area who will matriculate into a University as first generation post-secondary students. She believes that language and culture reside at the heart of the human experience, and is a key component of growing students who are not only motivated to learn the language, but to participate more fully as global citizens.
