CONSULTANT: Jill Taylor

Jill Taylor graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas with a degree in Mathematics. She then received her MEd in Mathematics Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She is currently working on her PhD in Mathematics Education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. For 22 years, Jill has taught mathematics to middle school, high school, and college level students in public and private schools in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. Most recently during her ten years at Broken Arrow High School, she served as the Math Department Chair and taught AP Calculus AB. Currently, she is an assistant professor of math at Tulsa Community College where she teaches a wide range of courses including Precalculus and Calculus. She also currently teaches AP Calculus AB and AP Precalculus for Horizon Charter School.  Jill has been active in the Oklahoma Council of Teachers of Mathematics where she serves on the Board of Directors as the District 4 representative. She was also named a member of the College Board National Faculty for the Pre-AP program. Jill is a College Board workshop consultant for AP Calculus and AP Precalculus. Jill has presented at conferences and summer institutes as well as local and state workshops. Jill has been an AP reader since 2019 and considers this experience an invaluable insight into teaching AP courses. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, watching sports, and spending time with her husband, children, and her amazing grandson.

Course Description:

During this AP Precalculus APSI you will have in-depth exposure to the new AP Precalculus course content, according to the College Board Course and Exam Description (CED).

Time will be allotted to explore what’s in the course framework, along with what’s not in the framework, as we delve into the mathematical practices required for student success. Along with learning about the course framework, you will receive specifics about the AP exam design and scoring process.

We will explore aspects of AP Classroom including the digital activation process for both teachers and students, AP Classroom’s capabilities for formative and summative assessment, and avenues for teachers to engage as members in the AP community.

Along with the CED, supplemental materials will be presented that may enhance your current learning resources to better align with the new course framework. Recommendations regarding pacing and instructional strategies will also be provided.
