Class Description:
Dear Physics Teachers, My name is Stephen Fuerderer and I will be your instructor at the upcoming AP Summer Institute. This workshop is designed to help teachers who are new to AP Physics get started on a successful path, and also for experienced teachers to learn a few new “tricks” and access additional instructional resources and strategies. I look forward to meeting you soon and learning a few new things myself. If you are able here are a few things you should do before the APSI:
Download the Course and Exam Description which provides detailed information about the units, topics and science skills that are integrated throughout the curriculum. It would be beneficial for teachers who are new to the AP program to review the Course Framework prior to our online workshop. A copy can be downloaded from AP Central at https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-physics-1-course-and-exam-description.pdf
Please bring your laptop computer or a tablet for ease of file sharing.
Print or download your school calendar for next school year.
Check with AP Coordinator or administrator regarding your AP Course Audit status
Each day will have a theme but expect the schedule to be revised as necessary. Afternoons will include laboratory work with an emphasis on developing the science practices (skills).
Day One: Understanding the Course & Course Planning
Day Two: Examination and Rubric Scoring
Day Three Assessing Student Understanding, AP Classroom & AP Central Resources
Day Four: Rotational Unit Overview and labs, Sharing Session, AP Physics Community
