Princess is a math and computer science teacher at Perris High School. She has been teaching since 2009 and she loves to play disc golf when she is not thinking about supporting all students academically. She has been teaching AP Computer Science Principles since the first year the course was officially launched in 2016. Teaching computer science has changed the way Princess looks at education. Equity is the spirit of AP CSP. The focus on equity that College Board emphasizes has given her a new perspective into teaching math as well.
Course Description:
This workshop provides teachers with the tools they need to implement an effective AP Computer Science Principles course. Participants will understand how the computational thinking practices and the essential knowledge statements are tested in multiple choice questions. Participants will understand the performance task scoring guidelines by reading sample responses and its commentaries. Participants will present a model lesson using instructional approaches introduced in the CED and create a pacing guide to ensure all students have enough class time to complete their performance task.
