AP CHEMISTRY
CONSULTANT: Richard Schwenz
Richard Schwenz has taught general and physical chemistry classes in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado since 1984. He is also heavily involved in the preparation of future teachers, especially secondary science teachers, supervising student teachers, participating in the clinical preparation of pre-service teachers, and teaching in the science methods classes.
Richard has been an AP Chemistry reader since 1999, and a question leader since 2010. A College Board endorsed consultant in the western region, he has presented numerous workshops and institutes for AP Chemistry teachers throughout the west, and in the Atlanta area in conjunction with Steve Thompson. Most recently, he is one of the senior reviewers, and one of the original curriculum advisors for the AP course audit project, focusing on the chemistry review. He was just of the review teams for the revised course audit for chemistry, and for the AP Chemistry lab manual. He also has written both multiple choice and free response questions for use on the AP Chemistry exams and is a member of the Chemistry Development Team writing these questions for ETS.
He is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Ohio State University, both in chemistry.
